The Importance of African American, Women’s and Native American History

AP US History

“You can achieve a 3 by correctly answering just 52 percent of the questions, a 4 by answering 65 percent of the questions, and a 5 by answering 76 percent of the questions.”

A knowledge of African American, Women’s, and Native American history is essential to achieving a high APUSH score. The just-released 2021 APUSH exam conclusively proved the paramount importance of these three historic strands. Three of the four SAQs, two of the LEQs, and three of the seven DBQ documents required knowledge of African American, Women’s, and Native American history.

I have long recognized the strategic importance of building a winning coalition of exam points. It is important to remember that the APUSH exam contains 140 points. You can achieve a 3 by correctly answering just 52 percent of the questions, a 4 by answering 65 percent of the questions, and a 5 by answering 76 percent of the questions.

My books are all designed to help you build a winning coalition of points. Fast Review, Doing the DBQ, and AP US History, A Strategic Review all provide discussions of the key trends, patterns, and developments in African American, Women’s, and Native American history. In fact, the Strategic Review book contains four chapters on African American history, two on Women’s history, and one on Native American history. If you read these seven chapters you would have scored at least a 3 and probably a 4 on the 2021 APUSH exam!
